We went to Folsom Lake (actually the river portion) for a short hike. The weather was great today and we took advantage of it. I think we all had fun. (If anybody talks to Cheryl tell her we worked in the backyard or cleaning house and we did not have fun today.)

Fuimos al lago de Folsom (bueno fue a la parte que es rio) for un paseo. El clima estaba perfecto y decidimos aprovecharlo. Tuvimos un buen tiempo. (Si alguien habla con Cheryl diganle que limpiamos la casa a trabajamos afuera y que no tuvimos un buen tiempo hoy por a la mejor le daran celos porque regrezó a su casa.)

112 - Lunch Almuerzo

Today some of my co-workers decided to go to lunch at My Brother Vinny's for lunch in old Folsom and as it turns out they don't open for lunch. We ended up going down the street to La Hacienda. This was the second time in about 10 years that I've been there. The second to the last time was for a staff get together of teachers. One of my old students was the hostess and we talked for a little while to catch up about what she was up to and about another of her sisters. Anyway, what made that get together memorable was that one of the teachers got so stinking drunk that she was ready to pass out in the bathroom. A couple of the other female teachers had to go in and get her out. I had to explain to our hostess that not all teachers were like this one. She just laughed. She didn't know the teacher as she was new at the school. I think perhaps that's why I hadn't gone back to that restaurant this whole time. Anyway, we had a good lunch today.

Para el almuerzo hoy unos amigos del trabajo salimos para ir al restaurante My Brother Vinny's (Mi Hermano Vinny) en el centro de Folsom. No pudimos comer alli porque no abren para almuerzos. Bueno decidimos ir al restaurante La Hacienda que estaba cerca. Esta fué la segunda vez que he comido allí en diez años. La penúltima vez que fuí alli fué para ir a cenar y beber unas copas con amigos del trabajo (en ese tiempo era maestro en la primaria). Bueno la hostess (no estoy seguro como se dice en español a la señora/señorita que te saluda en la puerta y te lleva a la mesa y nada más) era una de mis estudiantes. Lo que me hizo recordar esa noche fué que una de las maestras tomó un poco mucho y se emborachó. Otras maestras tuvieron que ayudarle salir del baño porque no podia salir sola. Tuve que discurparme con la hostess y le dije que no todos los maestros eramos así. La maestra era nueva en nuestra escuela y por eso la estudiante no la conocía. A la mejor por eso yo no habia regrezado en 10 años. Bueno tuvimos un buen almuerzo hoy.

The kids are mostly all home now and as you can see cars align both sides of the street. David's and Gabe's girlfriends went home a day or two ago or else their cars would be out here too. Cheryl, DJ, and Alice will be here tomorrow (or Wednesday) so there will be 2 more cars out here, oh yeah David has another car besides the red junker in the pictures.

Casi todos mis hijos han llegado a casa y como se puede ver sus coches estan en los dos lados de la calle. Las novias de David y Gabriel regrezaron a sus casas y si no fuera por eso hubieran dos carros más. Cheryl, DJ, y Alice llegaran mañana (o el miércoles) asi que 2 coches más estaran en la calle, o si, David tiene otro auto más que la basura roja de arriba.

We don't have a tree in our front lawn but neighborhood leaves end up on my driveway. Today (before it started raining again) I noticed some frost on the leaves.

No tenemos árboles en frente de la casa pero las hojas de otros árboles se acumulan en frente. Hoy (antes de que empezó a llover otra vez) me di cuenta que estas hojas estaban poco heladas.

The first 3 pictures are of Folsom Lake today taken from around the same area. It's really quite a sad sight.

Las primeras 3 fotos son del lago Folsom fueron tomados hoy casi por el mismo lugar. Es un poco doloroso ver el lago seco.

The lake is quite dry but on the horizon you can see snow that fell in the last couple of days. At the moment the lake looks like a river. Above Katie looks like she's in the middle of a crater. Below are some pictures from a slighly differnt angle but around the same area. Those pictures were taken around 2 years ago.

El lago está seco pero en el horizonte se puede ver nieve que calló en los últimos días. Ahora el lago parece mas a un rio. Arriba Katie parece estar en medio de un cráter. Las fotos de abajo son del mismo lugar pero un poco a la izquierda. Lad fotos de abojo fueron tomadas hace un dos años o más.

127 - Mushroom Champiñón

I saw this giant mushroom and it looked like someone cut a slice off of it making it look like a pacman. I expected to see Alice talking to the hookah(or hash) smoking caterpillar atop of the mushroom. It was a cold dreary day... a good day for a good imagination.

Vi un gigante champiñón, alguien le cortó un pedazo y se parecía a un pacman. Esperaba ver a Alicia del País de las Maravillas hablando con la oruga fumando su pipa turka (o quizas hachís) sobre el champiñón. Bueno hoy fue un día gris... un buen día para para usar la imiginación.
